How can we use theatre to explore social issues and imagine more just and equitable futures? In this workshop, we'll engage in applied theatre practices—including games, storytelling, image-making, and improvisation—to disrupt systems of harm and practice mutual aid and interdependent world-building.

Drawing from approaches like Theatre of the Oppressed, we will collectively shape the issues we explore, ensuring the work is grounded in the experiences and concerns of the people in the room. Applied theatre is a flexible, responsive form that adapts to place, identity, and power—centering the unique dynamics of each group it serves.

Join Starry Night Productions, Amber Blais for Becoming One with your Character - Character Design for Immersive Performers. An opportunity to deep dive into deepening your connection to character building and performance. This workshop is specifically targeted to performers who are interested in immersive and interactive character building. In this three part workshop, you will:

• Develop and create a unique character

• Dive into the knowledge needed to utilize these characters in immersive work

• Understand the angles and practice needed to fully realize your character in all situations

Unlock the power of your body to create bold, dynamic characters. In this workshop led by Buba Basishvili of Theatre Artibus, you'll explore gestures, walks, voice, and connections to nature to build characters from the outside in.

Through physical exercises and improvisation, you'll develop tools for stage movement—timing, breath, and spatial awareness—while expanding your expressive range.

Perfect for performers and dancers with some experience, this class invites you to take risks, get out of your head, and tell stories through the body.

ABOUT THIS WORKSHOP:
This workshop will begin with a brief introduction to the Theatre of the Oppressed modalities, and then move into an interactive exploration of The Rainbow of Desire, a powerful approach using the aesthetic space, gestures, improvisation, movement, and intentional dialogue to express complex and sometimes conflicting emotions and desires.

We will dive into our internal worlds, exploring our dreams and desires, and investigating the barriers and contradictions that stifle them. This practice can be healing and cathartic, and invites us to acknowledge our whole selves. As we meet the deep need to be fully seen, we create space for igniting our imaginations and liberating our dreams together
