ABOUT THE FILM: To avoid a wrongful conviction, a tramp character (Charlie Chaplin) tries to hide in the big-top to avoid the police. His bumbling attempts to keep out of handcuffs earn big guffaws from the audience. Impressed by the surprise hilarity from this unlikely character, the ringmaster (Allan Garcia) hires the tramp as a circus entertainer, but Charlie can only be funny when he doesn't realize he is performing. He falls for a beautiful show rider (Merna Kennedy) and a tale of love, rivalry, and funny business unfolds.
